Juan "Ricky" Leal, 55 of Plainview, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2025, in Amarillo. A viewing will be held at 2:00pm until 8:00pm, with a Holy Rosary being recited at 6:00pm, Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at Lemons Memorial Chapel. A Funeral Mass for Mr. Leal will be held at 10:00am, Thursday, February 13, 2025, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Plainview. Cremation services will follow under the care of Lemons Funeral Home in Plainview.
Juan "Ricky" Leal was born on November 22, 1969, in Falfurrias, Texas to Roel and Julia (Marquez) Leal. He graduated from Plainview High School in 1988 and worked in agriculture his entire life.
Ricky enjoyed hunting and fishing with his dog Blue, watching Clint Eastwood western movies, going to Casinos, and listening to drinking music. His love for cooking and barbeques was tied to spending time with families and friends, often using cooking to bring everyone together. Ricky was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan.
He is survived by his wife, Mayela Leal of Plainview; two sons, Daniel and Alexsia Marquez of Arizona and Samuel Jimenez of Plainview; one daughter, Kendra and Trinny Marroquin, Jr.; two stepsons, Jay and Jonathan Lopez, both of Plainview; one stepdaughter, Jyra Manciaz of Plainview; five brothers, Jerry Leal and Agaston Marquez both of Loredo, Ismael Marquez of Hebbronville, and Mike and Domingo Marquez both of Plainview; three sister, Jessica Vela of Corpus Christi, Marta Sandoval of Olton, and Maria Torres of Plainview; and two grandchildren: Marae and Nehemiah Marroquin.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Roel Leal and Julia Marquez; his stepfather, Gumercindo Marquez; three brothers, Alfredo, Gumercindo, Jr, and Manuel Marquez; and one sister, Margarita Marquez.
