Joy Beth (Truitt) Berner, 87, passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Services for Mrs. Berner will be at 10:00am, Saturday, October 28, 2023, at Lemons Memorial Chapel. Services are under the care of Lemons Funeral Home.

Joy Beth was born July 28, 1936, in Olton, Texas to George Bryant and Mary Ella (Garrison) Truitt. She married the love of her life, Roy Lee Berner, on March 27, 1952. They were happily married for 45 years until his passing in 1997.

Joy was a devoted wife, mother, and Grandma who loved her family and the Lord with her whole heart. After raising their children, Roy and Joy served at Cal Farley's Boys Ranch for 12 years, as house parents and on the Ranch staff. She worked in various school libraries throughout her career, nurturing a love of reading in every student she met. Her gentle nature and patient love never wavered, even in her final days.

Joy Beth was preceded in death by her husband, Roy, one brother, Norma Jean Truitt, and one sister, Phyllis Temple. She is survived by daughters, Jo Ellen Hopson of Amarillo, Cathy Waggoner (Robert) of Amarillo, and Tracy Nichols (Billy) of Amarillo; son, Roy Lee Berner, Jr.; one sister, Elva June Rogers of Houston; 8 grandchildren: Brian Nagar, Jennifer Walker, Mandy Rea, Billy Nichols, Katie Summers, Brandi Berner, Melody Long, and Holly Nichols; 18 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
