Plainview - Josephina Avila Guevara,87, of Plainview, passed away on Friday, April 24, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at Primera Iglesia Bautista in Plainview. Interment will be at 3:00 p.m. April 28, 2015 at Resthaven Cemetery in Lubbock under the personal care of Lemons Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors Monday, April 27, 2015 between 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Josephina was born November 18, 1927 in Robstown, Texas to Juan Antonio and Anastasia (Lara) Avila. She was raised in the Robstown area living in Corpus Christi as well. She moved here from Corpus Christi and enjoyed caring for people as a health care provider. She loved to cook and crochet. She was very involved in her church ministries at Primera Iglesia Bautista and enjoyed mission work and teaching vacation bible school.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eusevio Guevara; all of her brothers and sisters and one grandson.
Survivors include four sons, Raymond Tamez of San Antonio, Albert L. Perez of Twenty Nine Palms, CA, Jasper Barron Jr. of Plainview and Raul F. Barron of Amarillo; one daughter, Maria Anita Guerra of San Antonio; eleven grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren.
