Jose Olivarez, 92 of Petersburg, passed away on Tuesday, October 2, 2018. Funeral Services are scheduled for 10 o' clock in the morning on Friday, October 5, 2018 at First Baptist Church in Petersburg with Gilbert Cantu, pastor of Primera Iglesia Bautista of Luling, TX, officiating. Interment will follow in Petersburg Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 o' clock in the evening on Thursday at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Lemons Funeral Home.

Jose was born on January 9, 1926 to Encarnacion and Camilla Garcia Olivarez in Bexar County, TX. He was an extremely social person and enjoyed visiting with anyone and everyone he met. Jose was married to the love of his life, Margarita Navarro, for 63 years. He was a Godly man who enjoyed reading the bible daily and listening to Christian music. Jose was also a Deacon and Sunday School teacher at Primera Iglesia Bautista in Petersburg. He spent over 27 years working in the Environmental Services Department for Petersburg ISD and had been retired since 1990. Jose will be dearly missed by all that knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Jose is survived by his wife: Margarita of Petersburg; 2 daughters: Yolanda Zungia and husband Joe of Fort Worth and Olivia Zuniga and husband Leo of Irving; 4 step sons: Ruben Morales of Amarillo, Joe Ramos and wife Sylvia of Temple, Oscar Ramos and wife Janie of Lubbock and Julio Ramos of Astoria, OR; 12 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
