Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 20, 2016 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Kress. Interment will follow at Kress Cemetery. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at the Church. Arrangements are under the care of Lemons Funeral Home.

Jose was born on December 7, 1948 in Fentress, Texas to Silverio F. and Margarita (Rodriguez) Noriega. He has lived in this area for over 50 years.
Jose worked at Cargill for many years until his retirement. He attended St. Paul's Catholic Church in Kress. He was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Vietnam War. His daughters describe him as a gentle, quiet man who loved spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Survivors include two daughters, Stephanie Jo Gutierrez and husband Gilbert of Canyon and Kristi D. Noriega of Amarillo; three grandchildren, Lia, Kamrin and Aiden Gutierrez; two brothers, Juan Noriega and Guadalupe Noriega and three sisters, Anita Tijerina, Betty Cantu and Francis Noriega. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
