Plainview - Joel Soto Riojas, 47 of Plainview, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2019.  A Funeral Service is scheduled for 10 o' clock in the morning on Friday, September 6, 2019 at Templo Sinai with Pastor Salome Casanova officiating.  Interment will follow in Plainview Memorial Park.  A Celebration of Life Service will be 7 o' clock in the evening on Thursday at the church.  Arrangements are entrusted to Lemons Funeral Home.

Joel was born on September 23, 1971 to Pedro Segundo Riojas and Frances Soto in Altus, OK.  He graduated from Plainview High School in 1991 and married the love of his life, Christina Flores, on April 6, 1995.  Joel had a passion for music and loved to play the guitar.  He had a gift of spreading the word of God through worship and testimony.  He was the Director of the band Grupo Bendicion.  He also enjoyed recording and producing music.

He is preceded in death by his father and one brother: Pedro Riojas Jr.

Joel is survived by his wife: Christina of the home; mother: Frances Riojas of Plainview; one son: Joel Josiah Riojas (Lillian Lujan) of Plainview; two daughters: Kassandra Riojas (Pedro Damion Armendariz) and Kyleen Riojas all of Plainview; three brothers: Frankie Riojas (Michelle Jimenez) of Abernathy, Ezequiel Riojas and Abel Riojas (Jackie) all of Plainview; three sisters: San Juanita Soto (Efraine) of Slaton, Brenda Rivas and Patricia Riojas both of Plainview; and two grandchildren: Kyvrien Z. Riojas and Kae'zien Z. Riojas.
