Joe Reyes, 64 of Floydada, passed away on February 25, 2026, in Lubbock, Texas surrounded by the love and memories of those who knew him. He lived a life defined by family, jokes, compassion, and a servitude heart that he developed working for years with hospice, leaving a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Joe was born in Floydada, Texas on January 20, 1962, to Pedro L. Reyes and Florencia Mendoza Reyes. Joe was never married and had no children, but his life was rich in relationships and meaningful connections. He was very diligent in calling and checking in with his siblings and nieces regularly, always making sure everyone was doing well and never letting too much time pass without hearing a familiar voice.
He had a special place in his heart for others, especially the residents at the nursing home in Plainview, where he loved spending time visiting, talking, and bringing comfort through simple companionship. His kindness, consistency, and genuine care for others will be fondly remembered by many.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Pedro Reyes and Florencia Reyes, and by his brother, Don Reyes. He is survived by his loving family, including one sister, Marta and husband, Hector Mercado, Jr. of Lockney, and brothers, Ricky Reyes and wife, Dianne of Lubbock, Moises Reyes and wife, MaryAnn of Floydada, and Barney Reyes and wife, Nancy of Plainview, as well as his cherished nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins, all of whom will forever hold his memory close.
Viewing/Services to honor Joe’s life will be held at Lemon Memorial Chapel in Plainview, TX on February 27, 2026, from 1:00pm-4:00pm. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of a life well lived.
