Obituary

Jesusa Garza, (known as "Susie" to everyone), age 94, of Lockney, Texas passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at her residence. Viewing for Mrs. Garza will be held at 4:00pm-8:00pm, Sunday, April 12, 2026, with a Holy Rosary being recited at 6:00pm at Lemons Memorial Chapel. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 2:00pm, Monday, April 13, 2026, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Plainview with Father Angelo Consemino officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Lemons Funeral Home in Plainview.

Susie was born on March 9, 1932, in San Benito, Texas to Pioquento Ledesma and Juanita Alaniz Ledesma. She married Higinio Garza on October 25, 1948, in Plainview, Texas. They shared fifty-five years together until his passing on June 14, 2004.

Susie dedicated 37 years of her life as a nurse’s aide in Lockney, Texas, where she found great joy in caring for her patients. She had a deep love for creativity, spending her time crocheting, sewing, and working on arts and crafts. She was especially known for the beautiful dresses she made with care and talent. Susie also cherished cooking for her family and lovingly caring for her grandchildren. She was a faithful member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

Those left to cherish her memory are her four sons, Higinio Garza, Jr. and wife, Janelle of Hillsboro, New Mexico, Antonio Garza of Lockney, Texas, Oscar Garza and wife, Corina of Brownfield, Texas and Eduardo Garza and partner, Tina of El Paso, Texas; one daughter, Diana Choffy and husband, Michael of Colorado Springs, Colorado; twenty-one grandchildren and forty-three great-grandchildren, and eleven great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Higinio Garza; her parents, Pioquento and Juanita Ledesma; her sisters, Margarita, Esperanza, Isabella, Aurora, Anita, and Victoria, and one brother, Gavino Ledesma.
