Obituary

Jesus G. Castro, 85, returned to his heavenly home on Feb. 16, 2018, after a valiant battle with a long illness. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00A.M., on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Floydada Cemetery. Jesus was born to the late Rafael and Maria G. Castro respectively, in Coahuila, Mexico on Feb. 25, 1932. He worked for 20 years for The Rio Grande County before retiring. Jesus was a faithful member of St. Joseph Church in Monte Vista Colorado for several years. (also a devoted member of the Sacred Heart Church in Plainview, Tx 2006 till the present) He was a member of the Cursillo, he devoted his time to volunteering inside the church, he enjoyed serving the community meals on Christmas Day (s). He had a passion for hunting and fishing and also found happiness walking the trails of the Colorado Mountains. Jesus also enjoyed traveling the U.S. he appreciated his trip to Alaska the most. He also traveled overseas and had visited places like France, Germany, Rome, Holland, etc.

Jesus was blessed with a loving family, before Colorado, Jesus was living in Lockney TX where he met and married his beloved wife, Linda Cortez, on Sept. 18, 1965. Together they adventured to Colorado, where they both enrolled in a community school and both received the high school diplomas in the early 1980's. They resided for over 40 years in Monte Vista, Colorado, before they decided to come back and settle in Plainview, TX in 2006. Jesus helped raise his two daughters with patience and discipline. Every summer he would take the family on long family trips to see the natural beauty the country had to offer.

Jesus is survived by his loving and devoted wife; Linda Castro, his loving daughters, Jo Ann Blair, and Esther Ann Castro-Baker; his grandchildren: Tia Amber Hanson, Jesus G. Castro II - Hanson, Noah Johnson, Holleena Brooke Johnson, and Jaycee Johnson; his great grandchildren: Emma, Lukas, Zoey and KB Wilson. He is preceded in death by his brother, Rafael G. Castro, his three sisters, his parents and his dear daughter Connie Lou Castro. He will be dearly missed by his loved ones, who celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his creator.
