Janie G. Lopez, 78 of Plainview, passed away on Friday, September 8, 2023, at her residence. Viewing and Visitation for Mrs. Lopez will be at Lemons Memorial Chapel, on Monday, September 11, 2023, from 2:00pm-8:00pm, and on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, from 8:00am-12:00pm. Cremation services will follow under the care of Lemons Funeral Home.

Janie was born in Clarendon, Texas, on July 29, 1945, to Chon Gatica and Viola Franco. She married Baldamar Lopez in Plainview on August 21, 1963. She was a truck driver for 32 years. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, camping, and hunting. She loved spending time playing Bingo, going to the casinos, playing Phase 10, as well as drinking margaritas.

Janie was also an avid Dallas Cowboys Fan and was a member of the Garland Street Church of Christ.

She is preceded in death by her mom, Viola Martinez, and Rogelio Martinez; her grandparents: Chlorinda and Alfredo Martinez; brother, Julian Martinez, and grandson, Andrew Lopez.

Janie leaves behind a legacy of those that will cherish her memory, her husband: Baldamar Lopez; five daughters: Corina and Tony Diaz of Plainview, Mary Ann and Travis Newsom of New Braunfels, Vicky Lopez of Plainview, Lupe and Charlie Gonzales of Plainview, and Michelle and Daniel Gil of Dimmitt; two sons: Robert and Nellie Lopez and Baldamar Lopez, Jr., both of Plainview; three brothers: Albert and Jackie Gatica of Haltom City, Arnold and Mary Martinez of Mason, and Phillip and Lisa Martinez of Brady; twenty six grandchildren, sixty two great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren, and her cat, Razor.
