Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday December 26th, 2015 at the First Presbyterian Church in Tulia. Arrangements are under the care of Lemons Funeral Home, Plainview.

James was born on March 19th, 1925 in Tulia, Texas to Jim and Emma (Hankins) Ford. He grew up in Tulia and graduated from Tulia High School. He proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II on the USS Cortland in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre. He was a Radioman Third Class Petty Officer and received the Victory Medal. He also received a Bronze Award from the President's Council on Service and Civic Participation through volunteer efforts within the community and our country. He served as a volunteer for the Tulia Fire Department, and was also a member of the Masonic Lodge. He married Jayne Loftin on February 14, 1947. They raised their three boys in Tulia. He was employed at the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement after 40 years. He was the first mail carrier in Tulia. Prior to that, everyone had to go to the post office to receive their mail! He and Jayne were married for over 40 years until her passing in 1988. James married JoAnn Rice in 1990 and they were married until her passing in 2000. James enjoyed playing golf, woodworking and making stained glass.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Jayne, and his second wife JoAnn Rice Ford.

Survivors include his three sons, James Q. Ford of Farmers Branch, Rodney Ford and wife Terry of Amarillo and Frank Ford of Farmers Branch. He is also survived by one granddaughter, Robin Ford-Dennis of Amarillo.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made to the American Heart Association.
