Jackie was born January 27, 1930, in Wilson, Texas to James and Lela McAnally. He was the youngest of their fifteen children. He married the love of his life, Leta Noland on January 22, 1949, in Kress, Texas, and they were married fifty-six years, until her passing on February 28, 2005.

Jack was in the Navy Reserves and in the Marines. He also worked in Plainview, Texas at Pioneer Drilling and W.F. Larson, Inc. for many years.

He was a lifelong lover of the ocean and the sky. Whether tending to his garden, taking an RV trip to the ocean or boating on the lake with the family and flying his airplane, he found joy in exploring. He was well known as one of the better boat mechanics in Plainview, Texas. Later in life he enjoyed flying in his grandson's plane. He found joy in discovery and creation as he was always building or inventing something new. He cherished the times with his children and grandchildren and loved the family getting together. He was thrilled when visitors came to see him. He loved having his pets to take care of. He was blessed to retain his clarity of thought and strength of character until his last breath.

Jack is survived by his daughter, Debbie Massey and husband Billie; his son, Steve McAnally and wife Suzie; grandchildren, Chad Massey and wife Dawn, Zack Massey and wife Amanda, Shaunci Pettyjohn and husband Chris, Shyenne Brown and husband Ryan, Britt McAnally and wife Ali; fifteen great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Jackie Harrell and numerous nieces and nephews.
