Jack A. Bownds, Sr., 82 of Lubbock, formerly of Plainview, passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2020. A Funeral Service is scheduled for 10 o' clock in the morning on Monday, August 31, 2020 at Lemons Memorial Chapel with Steve Gaunt, Minister at Garland Street Church of Christ, officiating.  Interment will follow in Plainview Memorial Park.  Arrangements are entrusted to Lemons Funeral Home. Jack was born on July 31, 1938 to Bill and Marcie Lee Bownds in Slaton, TX. At the young age of 21, he married the love of his life, Joyce Barnes, on June 19, 1960 in Slaton. Jack was an entrepreneur and owned several businesses throughout his life that he successfully ran. A local favorite was Village Pizza. He also enjoyed outdoor activities such as water skiing, fishing, and hunting. Jack was known by many and will be dearly missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two sons: Russell Brian Bownds and Paul Scott Bownds; two brothers Rudy and Kelly Bownds; and one sister: Glenda Edwards.

Jack is survived by his wife: Joyce of the home; one son: Jack Allen Bownds, Jr. of Lubbock; one daughter: Elisha Mayfield of Lubbock; two daughters in law: Jennifer Bownds and Amber Cotton; one brother: Billy Bownds; one sister: Peggy Brown; five grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
