Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 27, 2016 at Lemons Memorial Chapel with Pastor Brad Snellgrove officiating. The family will receive visitors from 6:00-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Lemons Memorial Chapel.
Irene was born November 29, 1945 in Brownsville, Texas to George and Victoria (Ramos-Castillo) Becerra, Sr. She married Lorenzo Zavala in 1964 in Petersburg, Texas. Although their marriage ended in the early 1990s, they remained forever friends.
Irene loved to dance and adored her grandchildren. She is remembered as a giving, loving kind person who never met a stranger. Even recently, when she attended her doctor appointments, Irene always made new friends while in the waiting room. Irene was an avid Texas Longhorn and Dallas Cowboys fan. She will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Eva Riojas.
Survivors include one son, Lorenzo Zavala, Jr.; three daughters, Debra Zavala-Beck and husband Wesley, Cathy Zavala and Angelica Campos and husband Cruz, all of Plainview; her companion of over 20 years, Brigido Suarez; her former husband and long-time friend, Lorenzo Zavala, Sr.; three brothers, Joe "Kiko" Ramos, George Becerra, Jr. and Martin Cruz and one sister, Juanita Martinez. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Adrian Zavala & wife Kim, Jeremy Zavala, Shelby Zavala & husband Toribio Rodriguez, Kennedy Beck and Nathaniel Beck and 8 great-grandchildren, Toribio Rodriguez, Jr. and Pinks, Khayden, Zachariah, Malackia, Jasmen, Mikaylah, and Breanna Zavala.
