Plainview- Gwendolyn Alexander, 85, of Plainview, Texas passed away June 11, 2015 at Plainview Health Care. Funeral services for Mrs. Gwendolyn Alexander will be at 10am Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at Lemons Memorial Chapel in Plainview, Texas, with Pastor Randell Reeves officiating; burial will follow at Plainview Memorial Park in Plainview, Texas. All services are under the direction of Lemons Funeral Home.

Gwen Alexander was born February 10, 1930 in Petersburg, Texas to Henry Jasper and Wyna Irene (Gray) Oden. She lived most of her life in Plainview, Texas. Gwen graduated from Plainview High School. She worked several years as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone.

Gwen was married to Howard Jenkins June 21 1948 until his death March 30, 1997. Howard and their three children, Sherry Franks, Stephen Jenkins, and Randy Jenkins preceded Gwen in death. Gwen's second husband, Billy Alexander also preceded her in death. Gwen was also preceded in death by her parents and 3 brothers.

Gwen is survived by three granddaughters: Stacy Lopez of Lubbock, TX; Melissa Wein of Monahans, TX; and Christal Ortega of Arizona and 6 great-grandchildren. Gwen is also survived by Randell and Lois Reeves. They were very close friends of Gwen and she considered them her family. Lois and Randell cared for Gwen for many years.
