Guadalupe “Lupe” Coronado, of Amarillo, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2026. He was 70 years old. A visitation/viewing will be held at 2:00pm-8:00pm, on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, followed by a funeral service held at 2:00pm, on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, both held at Lemons Memorial Chapel. Cremation services are under the care of Lemons Funeral Home in Plainview.

Lupe was born to Monica Araujo Coronado and Viviano H. Coronado, Sr. on Jan. 8, 1956, in Lamesa, Texas. He was the beloved youngest of fifteen children and a friend to all. A plumber by trade, Lupe worked with his brothers on various projects throughout the years, including their own homes.

He loved music, and while he was a talented drummer, he sometimes joined in on the guitar and sang with his older brother, Viviano, in several bands. Lupe never missed a Dallas Cowboys game and was the life of the party at family cookouts, bailes, weddings, and comidas, where he was just as likely to be laughing in a chair on the sidelines as he was making moves on the dance floor.

While he did not have children, Uncle Lupe will be deeply missed by more than one hundred nieces and nephews spanning four generations, many of whom also saw him as a father figure. He loved making those around him laugh and was always ready with a joke and a smile when someone needed it.

Lupe is preceded in death by his parents, as well as his brothers, Encarnacion Coronado, Manuel Coronado, Jose Coronado, and Viviano Coronado, Jr., and his sisters, Julia Alvarado, Felipa Rangel, Juanita Barrera, Maria Coronado, and Paulita Tasker.

He is survived by his sisters, Seberiana Chavira of Plainview (Ramiro), Anita Coronado of San Antonio, Isabel Alvarado of Dallas, Delia Coronado of Lubbock, and Maria Esther Hernandez of Amarillo (Ray); his brother, Albert Coronado of Amarillo (Louella), and countless other family members and friends.
