It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gordon A. Adams, at the age of 79 years old, on August 3, 2026, in Plainview, Texas, surrounded by his family. The family of Mr. Adams will be receiving family and friends Friday, August 14, 2026, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Lemons Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 10:00am at First Baptist Church in Lockney, Texas. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Lemons Funeral Home in Plainview.

Gordon was born on May 3, 1947, in Clarendon, Texas, to William Virgil Adams and Ruby Lee Moffett Adams. Gordon married Dimple Jarrett on August 27, 1966, in Plainview and they shared 59 years together before his passing.

Gordon proudly served in the United States Army from May 1967 to May 1969 as SGT (T) E‑5, Company C, 1st Battalion, 5th Cavalry. During his service, he demonstrated extraordinary courage and dedication, earning two Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star Medal for heroism, and the 1st Air Cavalry Division Medal.

After returning home, Gordon built a life rooted in hard work, integrity, and devotion to his community. He spent many years as a farmer, rancher, and carpenter in the Lockney and Plainview areas, he was known for his steady hands, strong work ethic, and willingness to help anyone who needed him.

Gordon is preceded in death by his parents, William Virgil Adams and Ruby Lee Moffett Adams; one son, Joey Williams Adams; two sisters, Eula Jane Adams Archer and Ruby Nell Adams; one brother, Johnny Ray Adams; three half-brothers, Virgil (Red) Adams, Joe Adams and Tommy Adams.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Dimple Jarrett Adams of Lockney, Texas; one son, Justin Lynn Adams of Lockney, Texas; grandchildren, Daylin (Randi) Adams, Tarrent Adams, and Dylan Adams; great-grandchildren, Ever (Adalyn) Adams, Paisley Adams, Blake Adams, Marshall William (Liam) Adams, Malikai Criswell, Declan Dodgion and Rowan Dodgion as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and long time friends, including Ray Janega, Frank Durant and San Juana Gomez.
