Gilberto Vasquez, 81 of Abernathy, Texas passed away on May 31, 2020. A Rosary for Mr. Vasquez is scheduled for 6 o'clock Thursday, June 4, 2020 at Lemons Memorial Chapel. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Lemons Funeral Home of Plainview.

Gilberto was born on May 27, 1939 in Batesville, Texas to Lorenzo and Matiana (Gomez) Vasquez. He farmed all of his life and loved spending time with his family and listening to music.

Gilberto is survived by his wife, Elidia Dominguez of Abernathy; one son, Gilbert Vasquez of Lubbock; one daughter, Jessica Vasquez of Lubbock; two stepsons, Jerry (Cynthia) Dominguez and Mike Dominquez both of Abernathy; seven stepdaughters, Gilda (Jesse) Costilla of Muleshoe, Eufemia (Arnulfo) Ramos, Olivia Dugue, Olga (Oscar) Martinez all of Abernathy, Isabell (Jose Luis) Ortiz of Mission, TX, Annabell (Lee Roy) of Tulsa, OK and Maria (Jorge) Gonzales of Dallas; two brothers, Alfredo Vasquez and Rogelio (Rosemary) Vasquez both of Abernathy; one sister, Victoria (Raul) Ruiz of Hale Center; 42 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lorenzo and Matiana; 5 brothers, Wenselado, Lazaro, Victor, David, and Felipe Vasquez; 2 sisters, Consuelo Gonzales and Lucia Martinez; and his first wife, Antonia Ruiz.
