Gerardo Holguin, 65 of Hart, passed away Sunday, December 4, 2022 in Lubbock. A Holy Rosary and Funeral Service for Mr. Holguin will be held at Lemons Memorial Chapel. Gerardo was born in Práxedis G. Guerrero, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Concepcion Holguin and Josephina Sotelo on February 22, 1957.  In 1978, he met his wife, Melesia Arambula, in Oklahoma City. They began their lives together in Olton, Texas and finally settled in the big city of Hart, Texas.

Those who knew him well, knew him for his amazing personality, wicked sense of humor and his big heart. This man knew no stranger and friends weren't friends they were family! Gerardo enjoyed the outdoors, as well as raising a batch of farm animals. He also enjoyed gardening, always growing useless vegetables that he wouldn't even eat himself. He would always say that he loved his kids more than anything in the world, but obviously this was a lie because his stinking chickens always came first. He would never leave home without his music, he would listen to the same song, same artist, over and over for years.

One of his favorite sayings was "it's not like I'm rich!" He would mainly say this to his kids, but the truth is,  this man was one of the richest men in the world. He was loved by so many people; he was truly blessed. He never cared what  people thought of him, and he would let them know exactly where they could shove their opinions. He was Mr. Chido y Coqueton.

Gerardo was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle. He will be missed.

Gerardo is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Melesia Arambula de Holguin; his three daughters: Nancy Holguin of Hart, Angelica, and husband Les LaDuke of Arlington, and Melesia (Molly) and husband Mike Hernandez of Amarillo;  his three sons: Gerardo E. Holguin, Jr. and wife Raquel Peña of Lubbock, Davian Holguin and wife Aly Cruz of Amarillo, and Pedro Guardado and wife Krystal of Amarillo; his eight granddaughters: Alijah and Akyrrah Jouett of Lubbock, Erika Rosales, Rebecca Lynn, Jasmin Elizabeth and Elzha Peña all of Lubbock, and Azul and Amelia Guardado of Amarillo;  his six grandsons: Zaden and Rezin LaDuke of Arlington, Enrique and Roman Holguin of Hart, George Peña,  Jr. of Lubbock and Christian Guardado of Amarillo, and his four legged grandson, Doug; his two great-granddaughters: Paisley Coskey of Arlington and Daviana Holguin of Amarillo; his three sisters: Josie, Luz Elena and Regina Holguin; and his two brothers: Eucebio and Alberto Holguin.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Concepcion and Josephina Holguin, brother, Fernando Holguin, and sister, Angelina Holguin.
