Georgia Guerra Gomez, a cherished wife, devoted mother, adoring grandmother, and beloved matriarch, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2024, at the age of 82. She was born on March 12, 1942, in Sinton, Texas, to the loving parents Mauricio and Nasaria Guerra.
Georgia's life was one filled with love, dedication, and boundless affection for her family. She attended schools in Odem, Texas, where she cultivated friendships and laid the foundation for a life characterized by warmth and generosity.
On April 6, 1961, Georgia found her soulmate in Baldemar Gomez, and they shared a union of love and companionship that lasted a lifetime. Together, they built a beautiful family, and their love was a shining example for all who knew them.
Georgia was a devoted homemaker, dedicating herself to nurturing her eight children, including her daughter Nora and son Baldemar Jr., who preceded her in death. She lovingly tended to their activities, creating a warm and nurturing environment where they could thrive.
In her leisure time, Georgia found joy in simple pleasures such as cooking and gardening, passions she shared with her family. She had a green thumb and took pride in cultivating vibrant flowers that brought beauty to her home. Georgia was a natural storyteller, delighting her grandchildren with tales of her own childhood adventures.
She cherished moments spent with her husband, children, and grandchildren, relishing in their laughter, and creating lasting memories. Georgia had a special love for watching telenovelas and enjoyed staying connected with her family through frequent FaceTime calls.
Georgia leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and all who knew her. She is survived by her husband, Baldemar Gomez, her children and grandchildren: Baldemar Gomez Jr., deceased son, (Kristie Russell, Angela McCaslin, Baldemar III, Michael, Michele Gomez) of Tulia, Texas, Norma and Shane Bulls; (Gary and Kevin Eubanks) of Lubbock, Texas, Sandy and Jas Gill; (Madison and Allyson Gill) of Lubbock, Texas, Esther and Dave Wolford; (Chantil Meredith, Georgia Graham, Landon Wolford) of Magnolia, Kentucky, Noel Gomez; (Noel Jr., Heather, Cameron, Haley Gomez, and Malynn Trees) of Dallas, Texas, Lora and Ron Quintanilla; (Ronnie and Nora Quintanilla) of Hale Center, Texas, and Steve Gomez of Hale Center; (Tiera Crawford) of San Antonio, Texas. She also leaves behind a host of 32 great-grandchildren, relatives, and friends who will miss her dearly.
A celebration of Georgia's life will be held at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Hale Center at 10:00am on Monday, March 25, 2024. A visitation/viewing will be held at 2:00pm until 8:00pm with a Holy Rosary being recited at 6:00pm, Sunday, March 24, 2024, at Lemons Memorial Chapel.
