A funeral mass will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at St. John's Catholic Church in Hart, Texas. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 7, at the Church.

Florinda was born on October 16, 1931 in Creedmore, Texas to Valentín and Juanita (Moreno) Leon. She married Anselmo Alcocer in June, 1953. They remained married until his passing in February, 1985. Together they had three children; twin daughters, Concepción Lara and Maria Elena Alcocer and Anselmo Alcocer, Jr. They also raised Julia Perez and Monica Alcocer Ramirez as daughters whom they loved dearly.

She married Pedro Barretero on July 11, 1989 in Plainview. They were married for 16 years until his passing on July 29, 2005. Florinda was a kind, loving mother. She was an active member of the Guadalupanas and completely embraced her Catholic Faith. She loved all of her children and grandchildren. She spent her lifetime caring for all of her family and treasured being a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Anselmo Alcocer; her second husband, Pedro Barretero; her daughter, Maria Elena Alcocer, her son, Anselmo Alcocer, Jr. and one sister, Agustina Trejo.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Concepción Lara of Minnesota, Linda Menchaca and Sylvia Barretero, both of Plainview, Julia Perez of Amarillo and Monica Alcocer Ramirez of Hart; five sons, Jesse Barretero of Hart, Joe Barretero of Amarillo, John Barretero of Austin, Jorge Barretero of Plainview and Pete Barretero Jr. of Dallas; two brothers, Margarito Leon of Wiggins Colorado and Valentín Leon, Jr. of Hale Center; five sisters, Maria Alejandrez of Fresno, CA, Josefina Lopez of Hale Center, Juanita Castilleja of Oceano, CA, Dominga Hooks of Hale Center and Martha Lathbury of Lockport, NY. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
