Plainview-Flora Lee "Granny" Jack went to her Mansion in Heaven on Monday morning, April 29, 2013. Several times in the recent weeks she has indicated a desire to find her husband, Durward Nelson Jack.
Flora Lee was born November 28, 1920, and grew up in the Prairie Chapel Community where she was baptized. She was a member of 3rd and College, Church of Christ, in Lockney, Texas.
Flora Lee served her children as Girl Scout Leader, Boy Scout Leader, and an always available "fast" taxi driver. During the school year of 1966-1967, she was mother to Foreign Exchange Student Paolo "Paul" Goss from Udine, Italy. She was Mother to many in her lifetime and had a room for a night, months, whatever the case might have been.
For twenty plus years beginning in about 1964 she was known as "Blondie" and worked as the bookkeeper at Davis Lumber in Lockney.
She was born to Frank and Ella (Mauldin) Jones and was married December 14, 1939 in Seminole, Texas to Durward Nelson Jack.
Flora is survived by a daughter, Madonna and her husband, Otto B. Schacht, of Plainview; grandsons: Otto Jackie-Don (J-D) Schacht, of Lubbock; Byron Fritz-Nelson and his wife, Jackie Schacht, of Texarkana; a son, Belvred Jack, of The Colony; grandson, Justin and his wife, Kristin Jack; great-granddaughters, Savannah and Addison, and great-grandson, Carter Jack, all of Hewitt; granddaughter, Heidi and her husband, Brent Wells, and great-grandson, Tyler Casebolt, all of Plano; her brother, F.G. and his wife, Pat Jones, of Plainview; sisters, Laveta and her husband, Freddie Morren, of Floydada; Othelia and her husband, Otis Bass of Amarillo; Wanda and her husband, O.J. Webb, of Mississippi; Lynna and her husband, Thurman Davis, of Florida; many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Flora Lee was preceded in death by her husband, Durward Nelson Jack (August 20, 1990); Ella (Mauldin) Jones, her mother; Frank, her father; and step-mother, Hazel Jones.
A service to celebrate Flora Lee's life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 4, 2013, at Lemons Memorial Chapel, with Evangelist Dee Teel officiating. Interment will follow the service in Plainview Memorial Park. Service arrangements are under the direction of Lemons Funeral Home of Plainview. Open visitation will begin at 8:00 a.m., Friday, May 3, 2013, at the funeral home. The family will receive friends and guests from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the evening on Friday, May 3.
