Fernando Peña, 66 of Plainview, passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2020. A Memorial Service is scheduled for 11 o' clock in the morning on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at Lemons Memorial Chapel with Father George Poonely officiating. Burial of cremains will follow in Plainview Cemetery. A Rosary was held for Mr. Peña at 6:00PM Friday, August 14, 2020 at Lemons Memorial Chapel. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Lemons Funeral Home.
Fernando was born on March 28, 1954 to Isias and Carmen (Medrano) Peña in Ballinger, Texas. He attended school in Plainview and graduated from Plainview High School in 1970. Fernando married the love of his life Josephine on April 10, 1976 and were married 45 years. He lived his life as an amazingly simple yet caring family man. He always did what he could for his family or anyone that needed help. His job driving for Spartan Home Health transportation brought not only him joy but also to his elderly clients who were fond of Fernando's smile and fun personality. Fernando enjoyed listening to country music and was a football fan of both the Dallas Cowboys and the New Orleans Saints. He was a member of Scared Heart Catholic Church. Throughout all the hardships Fernando faced, he always maintained a positive attitude and will be missed dearly by many who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and one brother: Sammy Peña.
Fernando is survived by his loving wife: Josephine Peña; one brother: Mike (Cindy) Peña of Plainview; nine sisters: Rosa (Lepolio) Medina, Laura (Ted) Rodriguez, and Dianna Herrera all of Plainview, Elena (George) Martinez of Hale Center, Melissa (Cesar) Barrera and Carolyn Gin all of Amarillo, Patricia (Lewis) Couch of Canyon, Elizabeth (Rick) Klingensmith of Clovis, Nelda (Jerry) Garcia of Carlsbad, and numerous nieces and nephews.
