Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 5, 2016 at Lemons Memorial Chapel with Rev. Hermilio Perez officiating. The family will have a prayer service from 6:00-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at Templo Casa de Oración located at 828 Beech Street in Plainview. Interment will follow at Plainview Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Lemons Funeral Home.

Felipe was born on February 5, 1950 in Three Rivers, Texas to Antonio and Caridad (Davila) Benavides. He married Felicita Perez on August 30, 1969 in Plainview. They were married for over 46 years.

Felipe was employed at Cargill in Plainview for over 43 years. His claim to fame was that he started working there on the day of its inception and his last day was the day of its closing. He was a loving and kind husband, father and grandfather. He served as an Associate Pastor at Templo Casa de Oración. His favorite pastime was worshiping his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and he always had his guitar with him ready to worship. He loved taking his grandsons fishing. Everywhere he went, he made new friends. He never met a stranger. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 sisters, Felicita Hood, Longina Benavides and Dominga Benavides and 2 brothers, Paul Benavides and Aucencio (Chencho) Benavides.

Survivors include his loving wife, Felicita of the home; two daughters, Nancy Ruiz and Vickie Benavides; one brother, Javier Benavides and wife Minnie; three sisters, Connie Castañeda and husband Joe, Mercy Martinez and Margie Garcia and husband Lino. He's also survived by eight grandchildren, Amy Holguin, Katie Ruiz, Daniel Anthony Holguin, Brittney Ruiz, Damaris Holguin, Nicolas Ruiz, Justin Dominguez and Jason Dominguez and two great grandchildren, Kayden Rogers and Jordan Corral.
