Esperanza "Hopie" Gonzales, 12, of Plainview, passed away on November 4, 2023. Viewing will be held from 11am-8pm, Thursday, November 9, 2023, at Lemons Memorial Chapel. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00pm, Friday, November 10, 2023, at Lemons Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Plainview Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Lemons Funeral Home.

Esperanza "Hopie" was born in Lubbock, Texas on June 2, 2011, to Adam Sauceda Montemayor, Sr. and Becky Gonzales. She attended Plainview Jr. High School and was the in the 7th grade. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainview.

Hopie enjoyed spending time coloring, playing on her phone, face-timing, watching cooking shows, cooking, baking cookies, and listening to rock and roll music.  She loved to argue but also loved joking around, making everyone laugh. She also loved animals, especially her dog, Odie.

Hopie is survived by her parents, Adam Montemayor, Sr. and Becky Gonzales, of Plainview; her paternal grandfather, Armando Montemayor, of Plainview; her three brothers: Damien Alexander (Lucero) Montemayor, Adam Montemayor, Jr. (Araseli Aguayo), and Joseph Angel Montemayor, all of Lamesa; her sister, Dylan Vanessa Munguia, of Fort Worth, and her nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by three brothers: Jose Angel Montemayor, David Anthony Gonzales, and Davin Ray Gonzales; paternal grandmother, Josefina Montemayor; maternal grandparents, Jose and Yolanda Gonzales.
