Graveside Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 22, 2016 at Parklawn Memorial Gardens.

Marie was born on June 14, 1932 in Hermleigh to Robert Neal and Era Estes (Dacus) Martin. She graduated from Lockney High School and married James L. Whitfill on November 24, 1948 in Lockney. She worked for many years as a Medical Transcriptionist for MHMR.

Marie was a loving, kind woman who treasured her family. She cherished her time in the mountains of New Mexico with James. More often than not, they took nieces and nephews along on their family vacations to the mountains. Later in life, they enjoyed taking their grandchildren. She and James felt that these trips would someday be a wonderful memory for all involved. Unlike many people her own age, Marie actively pursued knowledge and skills in staying up to date on social media. She relished learning computer skills so that she could continue to be involved and current.

She was preceded in death by her parents and 3 brothers.

Those left to cherish her memory are her groom of 68 years, James, of the home; one daughter, Linda Dorr; two sons, James "Robbie" Whitfill and Larry K. Whitfill and four grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and many friends who loved her dearly.
