Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Plainview Memorial Park. A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, December 18, 2015 at Lemons Memorial Chapel.
Elma was born on February 1, 1932 in Ballinger, Texas to Ezequiel and Macaria (Lara) Gomez. She has lived in Plainview since her family moved here in 1946. She worked for years at Wayland University in the housekeeping department.
Elma took great pleasure in her nieces and nephews. She often claimed them as her own and was an integral part of their raising. She and her sisters were best friends and they loved spending time together and eating out as much as three times a week! She loved watching telenovelas.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her beloved sisters, Dolores Garcia and husband Pedro and Francis Loredo and husband Arthur, all of Plainview; one brother, Ezequiel Gomez, Jr. of Abilene; seven nieces, Linda Sue Hernandez, Vanessa Garcia, Kimberly Loredo, Kelly DeLeon, Christina Martinez, Sandra Vasquez and Michele Treviño; two nephews, Pete Garcia and Arthur Loredo, Jr. She is also survived by several great nieces and nephews: Nicholas Estrada, Matthew Estrada, Katia Ramirez, Kamaryn DeLeon, Kristy Hernandez, Gabriel Hernandez, Adrianna Gomez, Malachi Loredo, Marley Loredo, Malia Loredo, Malaki Hinojosa, Macinzie Hinojosa, Robin Velasquez, Loren Vasquez, Tanya, Philip, Jacob, Bobby and Luke Martinez.
