A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2013, at Plainview Memorial Park, with Rev. Donna Lindley and Hospice Chaplain Oscar Chavez officiating. Elma Louise Holland was born on January 12, 1926 in Brownfield, Texas to Elmer and Corinne (Herndon) Machen, and graduated from Olton High School. Louise and B.J. Holland were married on September 5, 1946 in Kress, Texas, and raised their son, Dannie, there. B.J. was a farmer and a pilot, and Louise learned to fly as well. The whole family became members of the Flying Farmers, traveling by plane to numerous state and national conventions, including Tucson and Louisville. Louise was a great homemaker, mother, and cook, and she and her family loved to play games and travel in their RV. The family traveled around the country and Louise loved to fish, particularly in Eagle's Nest, New Mexico. She owned horses which she would barrel race and would also participate in 'The Pony Express Race.' Louise loved life, her family, and the Dallas Cowboys. She was a member of Kress United Methodist Church. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Louise is survived by her family: son, Dannie Holland and his wife, Rita, of Kress; grandchildren: Mechelle Holland of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, and Codey Holland and his wife, Robin, of Plainview; and great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Marie Holland of Plainview. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, B. J. Holland, on August 8, 1996; and her sister, Jolene Mauldin.
