Elizandro (Alex) Esquivel Sr., 54, of Plainview, Texas, passed away on February 16, 2013 at 11:30 p.m. Alex was born in Winters, Texas on September 30, 1958. Alex was married for 37 years to Eliodora (Lola) Esquivel on February 20, 2013.
Alex worked as a Missionary for Tattnall-Evans Baptist Association for over ten years where he and his family planted three Mission Churches, and one of those churches started another one. He also played in a Christian Norteno group, Los Vencedores and Los Proverbios. He was a Pastor at Iglesia Bautista Central on 16th and Independence and worked at Warrick's and Heath's Furniture. He enjoyed playing his accordion and traveling as an evangelist. Alex always enjoyed spending time with his family.
Alex is survived by his wife Lola Esquivel, of Plainview, and two sons, Alex Jr. Esquivel, and his wife, Lucy, of Houston, Texas; Joe Esquivel of Reidsville, Georgia; and two daughters: Emilia and her husband Phabian Ramirez, Aurora and her husband, Joshua Bernal of Plainview, Texas; and four grandchildren: Xzavior and Izaya Ramirez and Sierra and Joash Bernal; four brothers: Leonel Jr. and Sylvia Esquivel, Miguel and Teresa Esquivel, Israel and Tina Esquivel, Ismael and Carol Esquivel; three sisters: Adriana Esquivel, Areli and Ignacio Mijares, all of Plainview, Texas, and Rosita Armendarez of Mission, Texas; parents, Aurora Esquivel and Adelaia Martinez, and a spiritual son, Roman Rodriguez and his wife, Carmen, of Claxton, Georgia and an adopted daughter, Maria Luisa and her husband, Jorge Andrada, of Reidsville, Georgia.
Alex is preceded in death by his father, Leonel Esquivel.
Memorial service will be at Lemons Funeral Home at 6:00 p.m., on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 and funeral services will be at College Heights Baptist Church, at 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday, February 20, 2013. Officiating the service will be Pastor Don Robertson, Pastor Eloy Gonzales, Pastor Eloy Felon, Pastor Roman Rodriguez and Rev. James Bland.
