Elena was born on October 15, 1953, in Raymondville, Texas to Abraham and Felipa (Rodrigues) Martinez. She was a devoted grandmother, mother, and friend. She loved life and loved the life she lived. When the time was right and the weather was perfect, she was traveling near and far. She enjoyed every shopping trip, eating all her favorite foods, getting her nails done, most of all, she loved her daily Scratch Offs! She was known to her community as a generous woman who kept her doors open to anyone who needed a safe haven.
Elena was known as Nana to all who loved her. She loved her grandbabies and her great grandbaby and cherished all her special bonds that she had with her family. She also cherished all her "spoiled moments" that included massages and small get-a-ways.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Elena is survived by her husband, Jesus Navarrete; three sons: Lucio Villalpando (Felipa), Albert Villalpando and Sergio Flores of Plainview; five daughters: Angelica Avalos (Francisco) of Lubbock, Dolores Garcia (Robert) of Minnesota, Elena Flores (Sheena Yazzie) of Plainview, Beatrice Flores (Jose Villalpando) of Nebraska and Flor Estella Hill (Michael) of Plainview; five brothers: Abraham Martinez Jr., Raul Martinez, Rogelio Martinez all of Plainview, Johnny Martinez and Edward Martinez both of San Angelo; one sister, Blanca Lopez of Plainview.
She was selfless. She was family. She was Nana.
