Plainview-Dovie D. Long, 88, of Plainview, passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2014. Funeral services will be held Saturday April 26, 2014 at 11 a.m. in Lemons Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at the Plainview Cemetery, Funeral arrangements are under the personal care of Lemons Funeral Home of Plainview. Mrs. Long was born on June 8, 1925 to the late Thomas O. and Kitty (Belyeu) Downey in Coleman, TX. She married Garland Long on April 7, 1943 in Plainview, and he preceded her in death on January 5, 1989. Mrs. Long loved to garden, but most of all she was a very devout Democrat, where she served as Secretary of the Democratic party of Hale Co. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church of Plainview. She is preceded in death by her husband, one son Dan Long, and eleven siblings. Those left to cherish her memory are; one daughter Lawana Barall; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, as well as two great-great-grandchildren.
