Plainview - Dorothy Yarbrough, age 96, passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2023, in Lubbock. A Viewing for Mrs. Yarbrough will be at 1:00pm until 5:00pm, Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at Lemons Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be held at 10:00am, Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at Plainview Memorial Park. Service arrangements are under the care of the Lemons Funeral Home.

Dorothy was born on February 7, 1927, in Kress, Texas to J.D. Spann and Bertha Pethina Hall-Spann. She married William Edward Yarbrough on October 20, 1945, in Plainview, Texas. He passed away on February 11, 1971.

Dorothy worked as a dietician for Nichols Hospital in Plainview and for the Plainview Independent School District. She enjoyed reading, watching TV, western movies, and gardening. She was a member of Seth Ward Baptist Church and a volunteer for Disabled Veterans of America. She would place wreaths or flags on the fallen soldier's graves on holiday.

Dorothy is survived by her two sons: John Yarbrough and his wife Nancy, of Lubbock, and Dean Yarbrough and his wife, Marsha of Plainview; three sisters: Ella Bell Heath of Midland, Betty Jo White of Florida, and Johnnie Faye Norrell of Plainview; four grandchildren and twenty-seven great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, William Yarbrough, her parents, J.D. Spann and Bertha Spann, her son, Billy Edward Yarbrough, and her sister, Adlie Hostetler.
