Donna Thomas Mares was born on December 2, 1950, in Racine, WI to Philip and Margaret (Scholzen) Thomas. She passed away peacefully at the age of 75, into eternal paradise surrounded by many of her loved ones on July 11, 2026, in Plainview, TX.

Donna was known for always being in the kitchen baking, cooking, canning all sorts of jams and veggies. She even made goat cheese. She was a strong and caring woman of faith. You were always taken care of by her whenever you visited. She loved spending time with her family, even through FaceTime. She never missed a birthday and would always send a card. She was a farm girl from beginning to end from the Thomas Tree plantation to the goat farm in Texas.

She is survived by her husband, Andres Mares, her siblings, and all her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren that love and miss her so very much. She is preceded in death by both her beloved mother and father.

A visitation will be held from 4:00pm - 8:00pm, with a Holy Rosary beginning recited at 6:00pm, on Friday, July 17, 2026, at Lemons Memorial Chapel. A mass will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainview. Cremation services are under the care of Lemons Funeral Home in Plainview.
