Clyde was born on September 10, 1949, in Tyler, Texas to William Clyde and Willette (Loving) McCoy. He was a school teacher for many years until his retirement.

Clyde was preceded in death by his parents.

Those left to cherish his memory are his brother, John McCoy of Plainview; his sister, Susan Hristov of San Antonio and his caregiver, Dale Tedford.
