April 9, 1937 – January 12, 2024
Clifford L. Williams, 86, passed away Friday, January 12, 2024. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January 17, 2024, in the Kress Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at Lemons Funeral Home. Arrangements are entrusted to Lemons Funeral Home of Plainview.
Mr. Williams was born at home April 9, 1937, in Lockney, Texas to Andrew Donald and Corene Williams. He lived most of his life on the plains of Texas and that was his home. His later years were spent on his farm in East Texas and finally in Celina, Texas. He passed away peacefully in McKinney.
Dad loved agriculture and worked in that field all his life, either farming or in support of farming in irrigation. Dad was a master machinist and a nuclear certified welder. In his early life he worked on the White Sands Missile Range building missile silos and was particularly proud of that. He had a particular gift to diagnose and repair any type of problem with motors. His knowledge and expertise were sought after in the industrial field, and he was sent all over the world diagnosing and repairing pumps. He designed irrigation pumps and held various patents on those. He had a voracious appetite for learning. He held an honorary engineering degree from Texas Tech University. He was recruited to drill irrigation wells and farm on a project in Saudi Arabia. He was very successful and made many lifelong friends.
After retirement dad enjoyed being outdoors, he loved to garden, raise animals, and tinker around the farm. Most of all he truly loved his grandkids and great grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and his wife of 38 years, Frankie L. Williams. He leaves behind his daughter, Amy Mack (Tony) of Madison, Alabama; son David Williams of Celina Tx; grandchildren: Rebecca Williams (Zach) of Carrollton, Tx, Frankie Mack of Madison Al, Hailey, and Amelia Williams of Celina Tx; along with two great- grandsons, William, and Douglas of Carrollton Tx.
Memorials can be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
