A funeral mass is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Plainview Cemetery. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Lemons Memorial Chapel. Arrangements are under the care of Lemons Funeral Home.
Celestino was born on April 6, 1936 in Terlingua, Texas to Pedro and Celestina (Huerta) Muniz. He married Pauline Muniz in 1957 in Artesia, New Mexico and they were married until her passing in 2008.
He worked at High Plains Pavers for several years. He was also proud to be part of the maintenance crew of Wayland College for many years. Tino enjoyed all things outdoors. He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed camping. He loved to tease people. Tino loved his children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He attended Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Pauline; one son, Pedro Muniz; three brothers, Cruz Muniz, Mercedes Muniz and Felipe Muniz and three sisters, Priscilla Muniz, Esiquela Muniz and Felixiana Muniz.
Survivors include two sons, Johnny Ray Muniz and Jaime Muniz; one daughter, Elsa Muniz; his primary caregiver, granddaughter Elizabeth Navarrete; 11 other grandchildren, Joshua Muniz, Timothy Muniz, Ashley Muniz, Orlando Muniz, Jake Muniz, Rosita Muniz, Pearla Muniz, Rachelle Muniz, Elijah Muniz, Maricella Muniz and Ajoni Muniz. He is also survived by 21 great grandchildren and 3 brothers, Paul Muniz of Artesia, New Mexico, Joel Muniz and Juan Muniz, both of Alpine, Texas.
