Bertha Joy Wicker, 92 of Plainview, Texas passed away on Saturday, October 9, 2021. Graveside Service for Joy will be held at 10:00AM, Thursday, October 14, 2021 at the Lockney Cemetery, Lockney, Texas with Dennis Butler and Taylor Lassiter officiating.  Viewing for Mrs. Wicker will be from 1:00PM until 5:00PM, Wednesday October 13, 2021 at Lemons Funeral Home.  Arrangements are entrusted to Lemons Funeral Home in Plainview.

Joy was born an only child to Oliver and Bertha Spinks on December 9, 1928 in Ballinger, Texas. Joy and her parents moved to Portales, New Mexico where Joy attended school and church.  At the age of 18, while attending a revival at Calvary Baptist Church in Portales, Joy was saved and baptized.

While living in Portales, Joy met and married Troy Wicker in 1950. Troy was in the military so Joy and Troy lived in many places, including the Philippines, France and Germany. Due to health issues, Troy retired from the military in 1972 and he and Joy moved to Arkansas where they bought a farm.  After Troy's death, Joy moved to Plainview, Texas where she attended College Heights Baptist Church and Aiken Baptist Church.  Joy had a strong Love for her Lord Jesus Christ. She Read her Bible daily and was a huge supporter of missions.

Joy was preceded in death by her parents, Oliver and Bertha Spinks and her beloved husband, Troy Wicker.

Joy is survived by Troy's three nephews: Louis Walker, Buddy Walker and wife Ruth and David Walker, and many friends, neighbors and church family.
