Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at Primera Iglesia Bautista. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive visitors from 6:00-7:00 p.m. followed by a prayer service held from 7:00-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at Lemons Memorial Chapel.
Bertha was born on February 16, 1930 in Big Spring, Texas to Juan Ariaz and Paula Abencerrajes. She married Rufino R. Pequeño on January 19, 1947. They were married until his passing on July 28, 2013.
Bertha loved caring for her husband and children. She spent most of her years caring for them as a homemaker. As the children grew, she began working. She cooked and baked for Heritage Home, Prairie House, New Griddle and finally Furrs Cafeteria. She was a generous soul who would have given anyone the shirt off her back. Her children always knew that she would be there for them. She attended Primera Iglesia Bautista.
Bertha was preceded in death by Rufino, her husband of 66 years; her daughter, Erma Pequeño and her son-in-law, Sgt. Major Thomas Harper of Hutto.
Survivors include one daughter, Anna Pequeño Harper of Hutto; two sons, Rudy Ariaz Pequeño and wife Margaret of Amarillo and Robert Ariaz Pequeño and wife Pat of Plainview; one sister, Carolina Hernandez of Slaton, Texas; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
