Bernardo Ortiz, age 60, passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2025, in Amarillo, Texas. Viewing for Mr. Ortiz will be held on Friday, November 28, 2025, from 1:00pm until 4:00pm at Lemons Memorial Chapel. Cremation arrangements are under the care of Lemons Funeral Home in Plainview.

Bernardo was born in Falfurrias, Texas on January 28, 1965, to Encarnicion Ortiz and Adelita (Gonzales) Ortiz.   Thirty-four years ago, he met the love of his life, Sylvia Maciel, whom he affectionately like to call his "chiva."

He was a good husband, brother, son, and a jokester. He loved spending time with his family.

Bernardo is survived by his wife, Syliva Maciel; his son, Mathew Ortiz and wife Rosalinda Davila Ortiz of Plainview; his daughter, Jennifer Ortiz of Dumas; his stepson, Carlos Cavazos of Plainview; his grandchildren, Jayden and Josiah Ortiz, Vincent and Jonah Cavazos, Adriano, Ilyana, Haylie, Bella, and Danielle Patino; his two brothers, Joe Ortiz and wife Adrianna, and Encarnicion Ortiz, Jr. both of Plainview; three sisters, Mary Inez Orozco (Bobby Hernandez) of Plainview, Margie Valverde, and Melissa Chavez and husband Roger of Haskel, Texas; and his nieces and nephews, Encarnicion Ortiz III, David Zach Ortiz, Lynette Rodriguez, Iyliana Marie Flores, Lina Billington, Destiny Billington, and Ace and Harley Valverde.

Bernardo is preceded in death by his father, Encarnicion Ortiz, and sister-in-law, Lidia Ortiz.
