Aurora Garcia Esquivel, 93 of Plainview, passed away on Sunday, October 24, 2021. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 AM, Friday, October 29, 2021 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Bill Anton officiating. Interment will follow in Plainview Cemetery. A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM, Wednesday, October, 27, 2021 and a Prayer Service will be held and 6:00 PM, Thursday, October 28, 2021 at Lemons Memorial Chapel. Arrangements are entrusted to Lemons Funeral Home.
Aurora was born on May 23, 1928, to Antonia Guerrero Garcia and Antonio Garcia of Yorktown, Texas. She married Leonel T. Esquivel of Winters, Texas on April 29, 1951, and together raised eight children and adopted one daughter.
She was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church in Olton, and she was a crusiista. She was a loving mother who enjoyed cooking for her family, making them the best flour tortillas in Texas. She enjoyed spending time outside the house feeding her numerous chickens. She had a green thumb and could grow anything; therefore, she had many plants. She also enjoyed making crafts.
Aurora is survived by her children: Leonel and Sylvia Esquivel the III, Adriana Esquivel, Areli and Ignacio Mijares, Miguel and Teresa Esquivel, Ismael and Kim Esquivel, Isreal and Tina Esquivel, daughter in law Eliodora (Lola) and Wallace Shackelford; four sisters: Irma Guerrero, Sylvia Rodriguez, Narce Garza and Maria Gonzales; and two brothers: Antonio Garcia and Guadalupe Garcia. She was also blessed with 24 grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Leonel Esquivel Sr., infant son Leonel, son Elizandro (Alex) Esquivel Sr., adopted daughter Rosa Armendariz, one granddaughter Michelle Martinez and 2 great-grandchildren Mikayla Collum and Elijah Menchaca, and one brother Raul Garcia.
