Angelina Mendez, 93 formerly of Plainview, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2024, in Grapevine, Texas. Viewing for Mrs. Mendez will be at 2:00pm until 8:00pm, with a Holy Rosary being recited at 7:00pm, Friday, March 29, 2024, at Lemons Memorial Chapel. A Graveside service will be held at 2:00pm, Saturday, March 30, 2024, in Plainview Memorial Park Cemetery officiated by Father George Poonely. Funeral services are under the care of Lemons Funeral Home in Plainview.

Angelina was born in Campbellton, Texas to Josephina Guerra on February 13, 1931. She married Alfredo Mendez, Sr. on September 16, 1950, in Jourdanton, Texas and had eight children. Mr. Mendez passed away in 1993.

Angelina was a devout Catholic and a Cursillista. She enjoyed sewing, spending time with her family and cooking for anyone that would come over.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Alfredo Mendez, Sr., two daughters, Yolanda Gonzalez, and Erma Ocanas, one son, Alfredo Mendez, Jr., one grandson, Thomas Mendez, one great granddaughter, Hopie Gonzalez, three brothers and two sisters.

Angelina is survived by two sons: Eloy Mendez (Irma) of Lindsay, OK, Oscar Mendez of Arlington, TX; three daughters: Mary Roberts of Grapevine, TX, Sylvia Ortiz (Carl) of Austin, TX, and Stella Mendez of Guymon, OK; one son-in-law, Foster Ocanas of Irving, TX; one granddaughter, whom Angelina raised, Lisa Perez of Amarillo, TX; twenty-three grandchildren, forty-two great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by three sisters-in-law: Odelia Soliz of California, Celia Contreras of Poteet, TX, and Ofelia Oregon of San Antonio.
