Amelia "Amy" Rosas Ornelas, 69, of San Antonio, passed away at Covenant Hospital in Lubbock, Texas on Thursday, July 18, 2013. Amelia Rosas Ornelas was born on May 30, 1944, in San Antonio to Nieves and Christina (Velasquez) Rosas, attended schools in San Antonio and worked as a bookkeeper. She enjoyed singing, taking care of her plants, and praising her Lord and savior.
Amy's passion and dedication was for her Lord and the church she loved dearly, the San Jose Mission Catholic Church of San Antonio. It was there she served as Eucharistic minister and sang in the choir. She volunteered for 37 years at the annual Raul Jimenez Thanksgiving dinners which were served at the Henry B. Gonzales Convention Center in San Antonio. Amy continued serving even after she had become ill and in His presence she now rejoices. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Amy is survived by her daughter, Irma Ornelas Garcia and her husband, Robert A. Garcia, of Plainview; her granddaughters: Melanie Nicole Belmarez and Ariel Michelle Belmarez, of San Antonio, her brother, Ignacio Rosas; her sisters: Rufina R. Espinoza and Petra R. Garza; and her uncle, Ray Velasquez, all of San Antonio; and two great-grandsons on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Juan Ornelas Jr.

The family plans to have a memorial service for Amy at a later date in San Antonio. Cremation arrangements are under the care of Lemons Funeral Home of Plainview.
