IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Amelia
Garcia
September 14, 1928 – February 20, 2013
Amelia was born on September 14, 1928 in Gillette, Nixon County, Texas, to Estanislado and Maria (Rivera) Cruz. She grew up in Texas, and she and Felix A. Garcia were married on September 25, 1946 in Cuero, Texas. Ten children were born to this union, and Amelia and Felix shared 55 wonderful years together. Felix passed away on January 15, 2001.
Amelia was an excellent homemaker and took great care of her family. When she cooked, she made everything from scratch. She had a sewing machine that she loved and used it to make everything from clothing to quilts for her family. She also loved to knit and garden. Amelia grew beautiful flowers and always had the prettiest yard on the block. Her greatest enjoyment came from spending time with her family; her beloved children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved her family deeply and was loved deeply in return. She will be greatly missed.
Amelia is survived by her children: Rueban Cruz Garcia and his wife Esmerelda, of Lubbock; Yolanda Garcia Azua and her husband, Salvador P. Azua, of Plainview; Delia Garcia Aguilar and her husband, Robert, of Denton; Sylvia Garcia Soliz and her husband John, of Littlefield; Eva Garcia Butcher and her husband, Steve, of Sudan; Larry Garcia of Littlefield; Amanda Garcia Johnson and her husband, Mark, of Petersburg; Rene Garcia and his wife, Maria, of Levelland; her brothers: Henry Cruz, David Cruz, Ted Cruz, Ernesto Cruz, and Felix Cruz; her sisters: Celia Barrera, Linda Avolos, and Angelita Luna; 32 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Amelia was preceded in death by her parents; two infant children, Celestina and Alfonzo; two sons, Albert and Felix Jr.; and a sister, Anita Basaldua.
The family of Amelia Cruz Garcia wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the members of Hospice Hands of West Texas for their exceptional care of Amelia.
