Alicia Chavez, 86 of Plainview, passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, in Lubbock. The family of Mrs. Chavez will host a visitation beginning at 11:00am until 8:00pm with a Holy Rosary being recited at 6:00pm, Sunday, April 14, 2024, at Lemons Memorial Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00am, Monday, April 15, 2024, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Plainview. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Lemons Funeral Home in Plainview.
Alicia Chavez was born in Vado de Cedillos, Chihuahua, Mexico to Baltasar Peña and Ester Mendoza on May 12, 1937. She was one of twelve children. She married Filemon Chavez in May of 1958 in Chihuahua, Mexico.
Alicia enjoyed gardening, cooking, and listening to music. She loved spending time with her family. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Baltasar and Ester Peña.
Alicia is survived by her husband, Filemon Chavez; her six sons: Manuel Chavez (Sylvia) of Eden, OK, Filemon Chavez, Jr. (Sonia), Lupe Chavez (Benita), Ruben Chavez (Rachel), Martin Chavez (Sandra), Armando Chavez (Anna Gonzales), all of Plainview; her three daughters: Beatriz Chavez (Francisco Javier Chavez), and Alicia Chavez, both of Plainview, and Yolanda Ochoa (Billy) of Amarillo; twenty-eight grandchildren, and thirty-seven great-grandchildren.
